IPL 2019: 3 Players Sunrisers Hyderabad should target in the auction
These three players will be on the radar of the franchise.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been one of the top teams of Indian Premier League (IPL) in the last few years. After winning the 2016 edition, they continued to impress in the next two seasons as well, qualifying for the playoffs on both the occasions. Last year, they were so close but lost the race to Chennai Super Kings in the finals.
The Sun Network owned franchise is more known for its dominating bowling attack but they have equally balanced batting line-up as well. Currently led by Kane Williamson, SRH released eight players while retaining the rest of the squad ahead of the IPL 2019. They now have the purse of 9.50 crores and can buy three Indian and two overseas players in the auction which is going to be held at Jaipur on December 18.
The way their squad looks right now, it seems that they would mostly prefer local players having the certain overseas players who will more often than not play almost every match.
Here we bring you the three players SRH should go with in the auction:
1. Manoj Tiwary
Bengal skipper, Tiwary comes under a bunch of Indian cricketers who had a promising start and even played some international cricket but perhaps, disappeared soon. The 33-year-old after making his international debut way back in 2008 has appeared in mere 8 ODI and 3 T20I matches. In the IPL, he has played for multiple franchises and did well for the now-defunct Rising Pune Supergiant.
Tiwary could be that player for the SRH who comes and tonks the ball from the word go much like Yusuf Pathan does. He bats deep and could be very handy in the middle-order. Hyderabad has an attacking batting set-up at the top and they need someone who can stick around in the middle. Tiwary could well help them with that, so they might invest in him in the forthcoming auction.
2. Shivam Dubey
The Mumbai based cricketer, Shivam Dubey has been in limelight recently for all the good reasons. He had a dream start to the ongoing Ranji Trophy, scoring his maiden first-class hundred in the very first match. The all-rounder continued to excel as he scalped a five-wicket haul in the second match against mighty, Karnataka.
More than anything else, his aggressive batting has made the headlines before and very few might have forgotten the way he had smashed 32 runs off Pravin Tambe’s single over in the Mumbai T20 League earlier this year.
The left-handed batsman and right arm medium pacer might be the latest exciting entry in the upcoming IPL and Sunrisers Hyderabad might like his services the most. They though have a few overseas all-rounders but Dubey could be the complete package just like Hardik Pandya. The pace-bowling all-rounder is a dream to have in the line-up and the franchise wouldn’t want to miss him.
3. Jitesh Sharma
SRH also left out the senior Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha as he failed to deliver last season. They might be now interested in inserting a local keeper who can also contribute with the bat. The Vidarbha cricketer, Jitesh Sharma could surely be one of the options for them.
He finished the Vijay Hazare Trophy as top run-getter for Vidharba, making 298 runs in the seven matches. The 25-year-old has previously been a part of Mumbai Indians in 2017 edition of IPL. He strikes at 132 per 100 balls and owns an average of 28 in T20 cricket, which are exciting numbers for a wicket-keeper batsman. Also, being an unknown entity, Jitesh’s services could be grabbed at the base price as well.
