IPL 2019: 3 under-performing cricketers who should be dropped for the rest of the season
The first two weeks have been buccaneering, flabbergasting and thoroughly heartbreaking for a few.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) continues to host exciting matches despite the election fever hitting its highs in the country. The first two weeks have been buccaneering, flabbergasting and thoroughly heartbreaking for a few, especially Royal Challengers Bangalore, who registered their sixth straight defeat.
The Kolkata Knight Riders are on a roll alongside Chennai Super Kings as the 2012 finalists are looking well set to take the top two spots as it stands. There were some more exploits coming from Andre Russell this week, with RCB at the receiving end of one of their most embarrassing defeats.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, who were steamrolling past everyone who came their way, found a roadblock when they faced Mumbai Indians. A fairytale debut for Alzarri Joseph gave the Orange Army a reality check and while the other south Indian side Chennai Super Kings got back on winning ways after a narrow defeat to Mumbai earlier this week.
As the second week comes to a close, we have analyzed the performances of a few players who have been underperforming and got enough chances to prove themselves. Here are the three players who should be benched for the rest of the season.
1. Manish Pandey (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Manish Pandey, much to the disappointment of the Sunrisers fans, is continuing his preposterous run with the club from where he left last season. Although Bairstow and Warner have been doing the bulk of the scoring, Pandey had a huge role to play against Delhi and Mumbai to see through a tricky phase, which he failed quite horrendously.
Sunrisers have one of the in-form local talents in the form of Ricky Bhui, who maintained a strike-rate over 200 in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy this season for Andhra. They also have youngster Abhishek Sharma waiting on the bench for a chance and if this is what Pandey promises, a change is imperative for Sunrisers.
