IPL 2019: 5 Unknown Indian players picked in the auction
Through this article, we take a look at five players who bagged lucrative IPL deals despite being relatively unknown in the cricketing fraternity.
3. Rasikh Salam Dar:
Rasikh Salam Dar is the latest prodigy to make waves in Indian cricketing circles emerging from Jammu and Kashmir, a state not very famous for producing big names in the game. Before the auction, he was called for trials by the Mumbai Indians soon after the conclusion of Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Born in 2001, the medium pacer has played only a couple of List A matches for the state team. He bagged figures of 1/54 on debut against Rajasthan and 2/45 against Tamil Nadu in his only other 50-overs game at this level.
At the auction, it was the Mumbai Indians who showed enough faith in the 17-year-old seamer and signed him for his base price of INR 20 lakh. Thus he became only the third player from J&K to have earned an IPL contract.
