IPL 2019: BCCI officially announces the auction date and venue
It will definitely be a star-studded event.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations for the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). After getting a confirmed list of the retained and released players from all the eight franchises, they have now announced the auction date and venue officially. There have been various reports arising from the last week regarding the much-awaited event and the BCCI has now confirmed that auction will take place on December 18.
According to Cricbuzz, the star-studded auction will be held in Jaipur for the first time as Bangalore and Mumbai like cities has hosted it before. Though the number of players to go under the hammer is not yet clear while the reports also suggesting that only 70 players might be auctioned his time around. But BCCI hasn’t confirmed anything regarding the same.
Auction at prime time
Earlier, the reports had surfaced that the IPL auction will be given a prime-time treatment in order to attract more viewership. Also, December 18 is a weekday which will make it difficult for the working people to follow it live on the Television. More than anything, Team India will be most likely to be engaged in the second Test match in Perth against Australia as it is the last day of the game.
Reportedly, the auction will begin at 3 PM IST and will go on until 9:30 in the evening which will help the fans follow both, Test match and the auction. Having said that, there is no official confirmation regarding the timings from the BCCI and at the moment, only the date and venue has been confirmed.
Things are slowly are getting settled for the next season of the IPL and soon the list of players going under the hammer might be announced.
