IPL 2019: Bhuvneshwar Kumar admits SRH will miss Bairstow, but has players to replace him
SRH have 10 points from 10 matches and stand a good enough chance to qualify for the playoffs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is well seated at the fourth spot in the IPL 2019 points table with 5 wins and 5 losses and 10 points. The team, however, has lost their last match to Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk and will need to win their remaining games to make it to the playoffs.
This match also saw the last appearance of SRH opener Jonny Bairstow, as he returns to England to join their World Cup preparatory camp. Bairstow, along with Warner has added four-century partnerships for SRH at the top and duo were the main reason why SRH got off to grand starts.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar admits SRH will miss Bairstow
Bairstow had a bumper debut in IPL, as he slammed 445 runs in 10 innings with one century and 2 half-centuries. He scored his runs with a strike rate of 157.24 and averaged 55.62. Bhuvneshwar Kumar knew that Bairstow’s services will be missed in upcoming games. “We will obviously miss Bairstow, but we have players in the squad who can replace him,” Kumar was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
Kane Williamson is slated to come back for their next match against Rajasthan Royals and is likely to move into the opening position. There is also the option of bringing in New Zealand’s Martin Guptill who has warmed the bench for so long. David Warner will also be leaving shortly and SRH might want to win a couple of games before the Orange Cap holder bid farewell to IPL 2019.
“We have three away games now out of four and we have to win those games to qualify. We have to be our best to defeat RR,” Kumar further said as they prepare for the remaining encounters.
SRH captain in the match Bhuvneshwar was a disappointed man at the end of the match, given that they had put up a good score on the board with Manish Pandey making 83* and Warner slamming another fifty. SRH’s total of 175 was overhauled with ease, as Shane Watson finally got into his belligerent mood in his 11th inning, slamming 96 off 53 balls and leading the CSK team to a 6-wicket win.
