IPL 2019: Chris Lynn provides Brendon McCullum with a solution of how to keep Andre Russell quiet
Russell demolished the Challengers at the Chinnaswamy yesterday night.
The match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chinnaswamy Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 has become unforgettable for the innings played by Andre Russell who broke many hearts of RCB fans as he single-handedly defeated the Bangalore team in the match in a brutal fashion.
Russell’s 13-ball 48* included seven powerful sixes and 1 four, as RCB captain Virat Kohli saw his bowlers being beaten to the pulp by the burly Jamaican all-rounder. KKR needed 53 runs to win in the last 18 deliveries with Russell at the crease. He had scored 1 run in 4 balls faced, but a beamer from Mohammed Siraj opened the floodgates which saw RCB being drowned in their own mistakes.
Everyone wants to know how to stop Andre Russell
Andre Russell has played four amazing innings in this IPL already and three of them have resulted in KKR’s victories from positions where they faced a probable defeat. Andre Russell now has 207 runs from just 77 balls at an average of 103.50 in IPL 2019 and if he continues in the same vein, he may rewrite the rules of how T20 batting is performed in the death overs.
This brutal hitting led to former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum wondering where can one bowl to him, when he is in such a murderous mood with the bat. He tweeted, “Sheesh! #DreRuss Where can you bowl to him 🤷♂️”
To this, Russell’s Kolkata Knight Riders teammate and a brutal hitter of the ball in his own right, Chris Lynn of Australia decided to provide McCullum with a unique solution. Lynn replied to his tweet with a video of Australia’s Trevor Chappell bowling his infamous underarm delivery to New Zealand batsman in the unforgettable 1981 ODI between the two teams.
Lynn tweeted, “I heard this works 🤣 🎣🎣🎣”
