IPL 2019: David Willey to join the CSK camp late
Willey was expected to be in India by now.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have got off to a brilliant start in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). They have defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and the Delhi Capitals (DC) quite comfortably in the two games that they have played so far. Interestingly, the CSK have been playing with only three foreign players in the team and Lungi Ngidi‘s injury has already made their bowling look a tad weak.
However, they have received another blow as David Willey’s joining has been delayed as the England cricketer is expecting the birth of his second child and will be with his wife during this period. According to the reports in Daily Mail, the CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has given the permission to the cricketer to stay with his family and it remains to be seen when will Willey join the team in India.
The reports also state that the arrival of Willey’s second child has been delayed as the due date has already passed out. This adds even more doubts on the cricketer’s participation in this edition.
England players to return by April 25
The CSK are set to play their third game against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday and then David Willey will only be available for his team for a maximum of eight matches. This puts his IPL campaign in doubt as England’s World Cup-bound players are expected to return by April 25. It will be interesting to see what will be CSK’s stance if his joining his further delayed which seems to be the likeliest scenario at the moment.
Moreover, Jofra Archer getting a chance in England side for the upcoming Pakistan series has also put his place in the team under doubt. Willey had expressed his displeasure over the same recently and it remains to be seen who makes it to the final 15.
