IPL 2019: Dwayne Bravo doubtful for the match against KXIP after hamstring injury

The Chennai Super Kings team were handed their first loss in the ongoing India Premier League 2019 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium after winning their first three matches on the trot. They will next play against Kings XI Punjab in Chennai on April 6, 2019.

However, before the all-important game, Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a huge blow in form of a hamstring injury to their star all-rounder Dwayne Bravo. Bravo was seen limping during the CSK chase against MI and later MS Dhoni confirmed the worst news possible.

Dhoni confirms injury to Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo had a game to forget against Mumbai Indians as he went for plenty of runs. He had conceded 29 runs in the last over, as he was taken apart by Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard and which cost Chennai the match. Fans were expecting their ‘Champion’ all-rounder to pull off something he did last year against MI at Wankhede with the bat when he scored 68 runs to win the match for CSK, but it was not to be.

“Bravo has a hamstring injury, we don’t have a few players, we already have some injuries, David Willey isn’t there, he has his own problems, Lungi Ngidi isn’t with us as well, we will have to look at the pitch and then decide on the right combination,” CSK skipper MS Dhoni was quoted saying in the post-match presentation.

Bravo has had an amazing career in the Indian Premier League with 1442 runs and 143 wickets in 126 matches and he has played for Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions and Chennai Super Kings in the tournament. He has also won the Purple Cap in IPL 2013 for CSK, for picking 32 wickets in a season.

CSK CEO K.S. Viswanathan said as quoted by Sportstar, “Bravo will undergo scans and the results will be known only by Friday evening. Only then we will have a clear picture about his injury.”
