IPL 2019: Injury scare for Delhi Capitals ahead of Mumbai Indians clash
Harshal Patel has already been ruled out of the tournament.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a long tournament and it is natural that a few of the players get injured. Even this season and is not an exception as some have been already ruled out while a few cricketers are recovering from the same. The Delhi Capitals (DC) have also been affected with injuries to the players even as they’ve managed to win most of the games this season.
Harshal Patel has already been ruled out of the season and according to the reports in Mumbai Mirror, their skipper Shreyas Iyer suffered an injury scare during the training session. He was hit on the right arm in the nets and seemed to be in some pain. It is still unknown whether he will be available for the game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in Delhi on Thursday.
Meanwhile, if Iyer misses out in this game, Shikhar Dhawan might take up the role of the stand-in captain being the senior member of the side.
DC at the second place in the points table
Delhi Capitals have managed to punch above their weight this season and deservedly are sitting pretty at the second position in the points table. They have currently won five matches after playing eight matches and will be battling with the Mumbai Indians to secure their place in the top four even more.
Shreyas Iyer has led the team really well and the same has replicated in his batting as well. He has so far amassed 266 runs in eight outings and is the highest run-getter of the team. He is currently at the tenth position in terms of winning the orange cap but being consistent, Iyer could climb the ladder later in the tournament with a lot of overseas players leaving the tournament.
