IPL 2019: Kane Williamson lauds Rashid Khan, calls him an outstanding performer for SRH
Rashid Khan's form has been topsy-turvy this season despite picking 8 wickets in 8 matches at an economy of 5.59.
Sunrisers Hyderabad finally got a win, after a slew of defeats at home. SRH defeated the visiting Chennai Super Kings, who were missing their captain MS Dhoni and were led by Suresh Raina instead. Batting first, CSK scored 132/5 with Faf du Plessis making 45. SRH chased the target down easily losing 4 wickets, with David Warner making 50 and Bairstow making 61*.
Though the accolades and Man of the Match went to David Warner, whose fifty came in just 24 balls; skipper Kane Williamson lauded his bowling unit which kept the in-form CSK batting lineup in check and bowled them out on a below-par score. Watson scored 31, Raina made 13 and Rayudu made 24 not out, as SRH’s famed bowling lineup finally showed up and performed as per reputation.
Kane Williamson lauds Rashid Khan for his excellent bowling figures
Rashid Khan has been in on and off form in IPL 2019 despite picking 8 wickets in 8 matches at an economy of 5.59. Rashid also missed his length in this match as well, leaking 14 runs in his first two overs, repeatedly bowling short. However, when he came in to bowl his third over, CSK were looking vulnerable with Du Plessis and Watson back in the hut.
Rashid found it a good time to get his line & length correct to nip out Suresh Raina and Kedar Jadhav in the space of four deliveries, despite both batsmen reviewing their dismissals unsuccessfully. “Rashid has been an outstanding performer for us over the years and on such surfaces, he is a big threat for the opposition. Now every game is different and we need to do the same for our next one,” Kane Williamson was quoted as saying by ESPNCricinfo.
Sunrisers Hyderabad has played eight games and won four of them and are placed at fifth spot in the points table. Their next two matches are against Kolkata Knight Riders at home and a return clash with CSK in Chennai. These matches are needed to be won by SRH in order to stay in contention for a playoffs finish.
