IPL 2019: KKR’s Piyush Chawla confident of taking on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers
"We all know what type of game RCB has got."
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is in Bengaluru to face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 17th match of the Indian Premier League 2019. The Kolkata Knight Riders have won two matches out of three played and RCB, unfortunately, have won none of the four matches they have played.
RCB have tried everything to win the matches they have played, but a rank turner against CSK, an umpiring error against MI and failure of batting against SRH saw them lose the games, although in a few of them they were in a position of strength on various stages of the games.
The KKR team is full of amazing talents who have been with them for a long time and leg spinner Piyush Chawla is one such veteran of IPL cricket. Chawla knows how dangerous the Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers combination can be and his team has already made plans for the duo before their encounter on April 5, 2019.
Chawla says the Royal Challengers Bangalore will certainly bounce back
Piyush Chawla has 143 wickets in 147 matches in the Indian Premier League and has played for Kings XI Punjab previously, before switching to the KKR team and winning the IPL two times in 2012 and 2014 with them.
“We all know what type of game RCB has got and four games down doesn’t mean that they are down and out. We know the quality of players they have; they are going to bounce back. They will come even more hard at us. We have to prepare in that way and play some good cricket to beat them,” Chawla was quoted as saying by New Indian Express.
The Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers combination is one of the most dangerous ones in the tournament and have a double century partnership to their name as well. Both the players have genuinely strived to bring the silverware home for the Bengaluru-based franchise, but have ultimately failed to do so and it is something that has been a black mark in their legacy in the tournament.
However, Piyush Chawla is not fooled by their inability to win the tournament for RCB and has revealed that the KKR team will try to keep things simple against them when the two teams face off. “Plans are simple. We need to follow the basics. Virat, AB and even Parthiv (Patel) the way he batted in the last game, they all are quality batsmen. We need to make sure we don’t give them easy things,” Chawla was quoted as saying.
