IPL 2019 – Match 20: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals – RCB Predicted Playing XI
It is quite tough to pick the eleven when the team is losing game on a trot.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) came quite close yet they were far away from a win the other night. Starting from last year, the team has now lost six games in a row and is undergoing its worst phase at the moment. They don’t seem to have the right bowlers to defend totals and it is highly disappointing to see they lose despite putting over 200 runs on the board.
It is tough to pick the eleven for any team when you are losing games continuously. The management is put into a fix whether to persist with a current lot of players or to make changes to the eleven. However, looking at the way things have panned out, it seems inevitable for RCB to make changes to their eleven. The team has got a great
Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB):
Openers (Virat Kohli (c), Parthiv Patel (wk))
RCB skipper Virat Kohli hasn’t had the best of starts in this IPL. However, he seems to have made up for it with the knock against KKR. Virat scored 84 off 49 balls in the last game and enjoys batting in Bengaluru. The pitch at the Chinnaswamy is great for batting and the 30-year-old will be looking forward to continuing the good form in the next game against DC.
Parthiv Patel is a must in the RCB line-up as he is their best wicket-keeping option available. The Gujarat batsman might not score big always. But he is someone who will often get to the 20s or 30s. RCB should not have high expectations on him and should let him play freely.
Middle Order (AB de Villiers, Akshdeep Nath)
AB de Villiers also played well in the game against KKR. He built up a terrific partnership with Virat Kohli and scored 63 from just 32 balls. He got out in the penultimate over of the game but did his job by then. He’ll need to maintain similar consistency in every single game from now on.
Akshdeep Nath is yet to get his batting chance in the tournament. The RCB top-order is too strong and Akshdeep needs to be promoted up the order to be tested. That, however, seems unlikely and he might have to wait for one or two games more to get his batting opportunity.
All Rounders (Marcus Stoinis, Moeen Ali, Pawan Negi)
RCB is looking at Marcus Stoinis and Moeen Ali as the finishers in the eleven. The duo can hit the ball long and hard. Stoinis has got long levers and showed what he is capable of in the last match. More than Stoinis, RCB should trust Moeen Ali with the ball. The English cricketer is better skilled with the ball in hand and Kohli should show faith in him during the next game.
Pawan Negi was a surprise pick in the last match. Even though not many saw him getting picked, something of that sorts was coming given the kind of cricket RCB has played in the first four games. Negi did extremely well with the ball and got things back in control in the middle overs. He has turned the ball more than the wrist spinners and has sealed his place in the side and must bring out more such performances.
Bowlers (Tim Southee, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal)
Playing his first game of the tournament, Tim Southee looked extremely rusty in the last match. He failed to bowl a single yorker to Andre Russell at the death. However, he is a quality bowler and would have realised his mistakes by now. He is likely to get another chance and should execute the plans much better if RCB is to win.
Umesh Yadav will replace Mohammed Siraj. The Bangalore pitch suits Yadav better than Siraj as he swings the ball early on. Navdeep Saini is bowling quick and is hitting good areas. RCB must invest in a youngster like him and should give him a long run. Yuzvendra Chahal is their best bowler this season but the oppositions are playing him smart and are trying not to give him any wickets.
