The Kings XI Punjab registered their 4th win of the season as they defeated the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Mohali. On what looked like a tricky track to bat on, the Kings XI bowlers ensured they didn’t allow David Warner score easily. The Australian scored an unbeaten 62-ball 70 and SRH finished on 150/4. KL Rahul’s 53-ball 71 and Mayank Agarwal’s 43-ball 55 drove KXIP in the chase. They panicked when 19 were needed from three overs but successfully chased 11 runs in the last over.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during Kings XI Punjab’s victory over the SRH team:

The winning streak continues for KXIP:

7 – The Kings XI Punjab now have won each of their previous seven matches in Mohali. KXIP won their last match of 2017 at this venue and won all three matches played here in 2018. Their previous longest streak at this venue was of six matches in the 2008 IPL and also in 2014 including four games at CLT20.

Warner’s streak also continues:

7David Warner has scored a fifty in each of his previous seven innings in the IPL. However, the previous six fifties came in victories, unlike this time. He is the only player to score five or more consecutive 50+ scores against an opponent in the IPL. Warner also had seven consecutive fifties against RCB between 2014 and 2017.

4 – Warner has batted four times in the IPL at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. He scored a fifty in all those four innings. His scores in the IPL at this venue read 70*, 51, 52 and 58.

9 – Number of fifties in the IPL for David Warner against the Kings XI Punjab; the most by any player against an opponent. Warner himself against RCB, Chris Gayle against KXIP and Virat Kohli against Delhi Capitals have 8 fifty-plus scores each in the IPL.

A slow effort:

49 – The 49-ball fifty from David Warner is the slowest fifty in the IPL for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Shikhar Dhawan against RPS in 2016 and Manish Pandey against KXIP in 2018 recorded 48-ball fifties while playing in Hyderabad.

70* – David Warner’s 70* is the 3rd lowest score by an individual in an IPL inning after batting 60 or more balls. JP Duminy scored only 59 from 63 balls for MI also against KXIP in 2009 where he registered the slowest IPL fifty. Aaron Finch scored 68 from 62 for SRH in 2014 against Mumbai Indians.

Hooda with crucial catches:

3 – Number of catches Deepak Hooda took in this game; the joint-most by an SRH fielder in an IPL game. This is the 3rd time Hooda has claimed three catches in an IPL match with the previous two instances coming against KXIP in 2014 and against RCB earlier this season. Cameron White, Rashid Khan and Manish Pandey have taken three catches in an IPL game once each for SRH.
