The Chennai Super Kings doesn’t seem to be stoppable even outside the home this season as they sneaked through to their 6th win in seven matches. The Rajasthan Royals had a quick-fire start in the powerplay and got a great finish but none in between as they finished with 151/7. The visitors were four down for 24 runs in the powerplay. Fifties from Ambati Rayudu (57) and MS Dhoni (58) kept CSK in the hunt before the dramatic final over where they successfully chased down 18 runs.

A thrilling finish:

5 – Number of times Chennai Super Kings completed an IPL chase on the final delivery; the joint-most times by any team. Mumbai Indians also completed five IPL chases on final ball including the one against KXIP on Wednesday.


2 – Mitchell Santner is only the 2nd player to win an IPL game by hitting a six on the last ball for the Chennai Super Kings. Dwayne Bravo hit a six on the last ball off Rajat Bhatia in the 2012 season against the Kolkata Knight Riders.


A milestone win for Dhoni:

100MS Dhoni became the first player to win 100 matches in the IPL as captain. 95 of those 100 IPL wins came for the Chennai Super Kings and the other five for the Rising Pune Supergiant.


Dhoni levels with Rohit and Yusuf:

16 – Number of player of the match awards in the IPL for MS Dhoni; the joint-most for an Indian player in this league. Rohit Sharma and Yusuf Pathan also have 16 player of the match awards in the IPL. Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers are ahead of this trio with 21 and 18 match awards respectively.


Jadeja @ 100:

100 – Steve Smith’s wicket was the 100th in the IPL for Ravindra Jadeja. He is the first left-arm spinner to claim 100 wickets in the IPL and the 3rd left-arm bowler with 100 IPL wickets after Ashish Nehra (106) and Zaheer Khan (102).


Another youngster in IPL:

17y 152d – At the age of 17 years and 152 days, Riyan Parag became the 3rd youngest debutant in the IPL. Only Prayas Ray Barman (16y 157d) earlier this season for RCB and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman (17y 011d) during the previous edition for KXIP were younger than Riyan at the time of their respective IPL debuts.


RR batsmen contribute:

9 – As many as nine players in the Rajasthan Royals playing XI have hit at least one four in this game. These are the joint-most number of players hitting a four in an IPL inning. Delhi Daredevils also had as many as nine players hitting a four for them during an IPL chase against Gujarat Lions in 2017.
