IPL 2019, Match 29, KKR vs CSK: Match Prediction – Weather Report, Pitch Conditions, Playing XIs and Live Streaming Details
As far as head to head at the Eden Gardens is concerned, CSK and KKR have won 4 matches each.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) started the Indian Premier League (IPL), winning four out of their last five matches. However, Dinesh Karthik and Co lost their last two matches, their last defeat coming at the Eden Gardens against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Shikhar Dhawan’s 97 helped the visitors slap KKR with a seven-wicket defeat. The Knights will next play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Kolkata itself.
Last time around, CSK thumped the Knights by seven wickets at the Chepauk and the latter would keen to avenge the defeat. The Super Kings, on the contrary, are on a rampage and are on the top of the points table. Another victory would also secure them a berth in the playoffs. In the last encounter, CSK, led by MS Dhoni got over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Pitch and Conditions
The track in Kolkata has been excellent for batting and runs have flowed pretty effortlessly. The short boundaries have made things tough for the bowlers as well. The temperature will be in between the 30 and 35-degree Celsius mark. The humidity will be on the higher side. It would be wiser to bat second as the deck tends to get better with the progression of the game.
Team Combination
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR may not make any change even after the defeat. Joe Denly and Shubman Gill will open the batting with the reliable Robin Uthappa at number three. Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik are next in. The onus will be on Andre Russell and Carlos Brathwaite to inject momentum into the innings. The Knights’ bowling lineup is a tad out of form, but it can’t be dismissed bearing in mind the potential it has.
Probable XI
Joe Denly, Shubman Gill, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik (c & wk), Andre Russell, Carlos Brathwaite, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Lockie Ferguson, Prasidh Krishna
Chennai Super Kings
Despite the win, CSK may be prompted to make a couple of changes. Sam Billings may come in place of an out-of-form Shane Watson and he will open with Faf du Plessis. Keeping in mind the conditions, Mitchell Santner may make way for fast bowler Scott Kuggelejin. Their bowling has been the most economical thus far and KKR may not find it easy to hit them around the park easily.
Probable XI
Sam Billings, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MS Dhoni (c)(wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir, Scott Kuggeleijn.
Probable Top Performers
Nitish Rana – Kolkata Knight Riders | Shane Watson – Chennai Super Kings
