One of the main reasons for the Chennai Super Kings’ success in the 2019 IPL has been their consistency at winning the tosses and the tracks at their home venue that support their team balance. The Super Kings won tosses in each of their last eight matches and all the five matches in Chepauk this season. The Sunrisers Hyderabad fell short of plans with the ball while defending a par total of 175/3. Shane Watson and Manish Pandey’s knock were the big takeaways for CSK and SRH respectively from this game.

All the major stats and numbers recorded during yet another home win for the Chennai Super Kings:

A Warner special:

David Warner is the only player to have scored five or more consecutive fifty-plus scores against a single opponent in the IPL. The speciality of this record is that Warner himself has recorded such streaks against three different opponents. The 57 in Chennai on Tuesday was his 5th consecutive fifty against CSK. Earlier this season, Warner scored an unbeaten 71 against Kings XI which was his 7th consecutive fifty against them. Warner also has seven successive fifties in the IPL against RCB between 2014 and 2016.

Pandey’s quickest:

Manish Pandey’s 25-ball fifty in this game is his fastest fifty in the IPL among the 14 fifty plus scores. His previous quickest was off 26 balls for KKR against the Mumbai Indians during the 2016 season game in Kolkata. This is also the joint-fastest fifty in the T20 format for Pandey. He brought up his fifty off 25 balls during the Syed Mushtaq Ali tournament game against Arunachal Pradesh. Manish recorded his 2nd Twenty20 ton during that game by scoring an unbeaten 111 off 46 deliveries only.

Watson tops SRH charts:

Shane Watson now has scored 523 runs in the IPL against the Sunrisers Hyderabad making him the first player to aggregate 500 runs in the league against SRH. Virat Kohli has scored the most number of runs in the IPL against SRH until the 96-run knock helped Watson go past the Indian sipper. The retired International cricketer scored those 523 runs across 16 IPL innings against SRH at an average of 37.35 with an unbeaten ton and three fifties.

The contrasting Aussie batsmen:

The Australian middle-order batsman Ashton Turner, became the first in Twenty20 history to bag five consecutive ducks on Monday night while playing for the Rajasthan Royals. However, in less than 24 hours, another Australian David Warner became only the 5th player and the first from Australia to score fifty and more runs in five consecutive innings in the T20 format.
