Chennai Super Kings returned to winning ways as soon as their away leg matches came to an end. On a much better surface at the Chepauk, the Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 175/3 in their 20 overs. Manish Pandey put an end to his struggles with an unbeaten 49-ball 83 while David Warner scored 57. Shane Watson also bounced back with a devastating 53-ball 96 for the home team. 3 – The Chennai Super Kings won all the meetings against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL that were hosted by the Chepauk Stadium. The hosts defeated SRH by five wickets in 2013 and by 45 runs during the 2015 season.
Five in five for Warner:
1 – David Warner became only the 5th player and the first from Australia with fifty-plus scores in five consecutive Twenty20 innings. Among Australians, only Michael Klinger (T20 Blast, 2015) and Usman Khawaja (BBL 2016/17) had four consecutive T20 innings of fifty and more runs before Warner.

5 – David Warner has scored a fifty in each of his previous five innings in the IPL against the Chennai Super Kings. He is the only player to score five or more consecutive fifty-plus scores against a single opponent in the IPL. Warner himself has recorded streaks against three different opponents. He had seven consecutive 50+ scores in the IPL against both RCB and KXIP.

35 – This player of the match award for Shane Watson was his 35th such award in the Twenty20 format. Only Chris Gayle (58) stands ahead of Watson in the list of most POTM awards in T20s. Watson went past Shahid Afridi’s 34 match awards in this format.

8027 – Shane Watson completed 8000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he was on 69 during this 96-run knock. Watson is only the 9th player and the 2nd from Australia after David Warner (8685) to achieve the milestone.
Australians dominate opponents:
523 – Shane Watson became the first player to go past 500 runs in the IPL against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Watson scored 523 runs from 16 IPL innings against SRH at an average of 37.35 with an unbeaten ton and three fifties. Virat Kohli led this list with 488 runs before Watson scored 96 in this game.
321 – Runs Warner has scored in the Twenty20 format against CSK in Chennai; the most by any player. The Australian left Virat Kohli (283) behind with his 57-run knock. Warner scored 321 runs in only 8 innings at this venue against CSK at an average of 45.85. He scored an unbeaten 135 in 2011 CLT20; the highest individual T20 innings at this venue and also against CSK.
