The Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals swapped their positions in the points table as the defending champions returned to the top with a huge 80-run win. This big win has ensured a top-two finish for the Super Kings unless a huge defeat against KXIP in their last game and the Delhi team winning by a big margin against the RR at the same time.

Watson and his long ducks:
Shane Watson got out to Jagadeesha Suchith on the 9th ball he faced without scoring. During the opening game of the season, Watson was dismissed for a 10-ball duck against RCB. These two ducks by him find a place in the top five list of most balls faced for a duck. The record is held by Nayan Doshi for RR in the 2011 season as he faced 13 balls to bag a duck. S Badrinath and Davey Jacobs also registered 10-ball ducks in the 2011 and 2012 seasons respectively.
Dhoni’s best ever season:
MS Dhoni now has 17 player of the match awards in the IPL which are the joint-most for any Indian alongside Rohit Sharma and only behind Chris Gayle (21) and AB de Villiers (20) in the overall list. This was Dhoni’s 3rd POTM award in his IPL season; the joint-most he received such awards in an IPL edition. Dhoni was the recipient of three POTM awards during the 2013 edition of the league.
Raina makes it 12 in a row:
Suresh Raina completed 300 runs in this IPL as he now has 306 runs post his 59-run knock against the Delhi Capitals. He has aggregated more than 300 runs in each and every IPL season and is the only such player. The only competitor for Raina in this feat was Rohit Sharma until the 2017 season. The MI skipper ended up with 286 runs in the previous edition where his team failed to make through to the playoffs.
CSK’s best spinner ever:
After 13 matches in this season, Imran Tahir stands at 2nd in the leading wicket-takers list of this season. The South African has claimed 21 wickets at an average of 14.8 with the help of two 4-wicket hauls. The 21 wickets by Tahir in this edition are the most by a spinner for the Chennai Super Kings. Ravichandran Ashwin in 2011 and Ravindra Jadeja in 2014 bagged 20 and 19 wickets respectively but played in 16 matches.
