IPL 2019: RCB and CSK engage in a Twitter banter after the schedule announcement
BCCI thus far have announced the schedule only for the first two weeks.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings will kick-start things in the 2019 edition with a clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on home turf. Under the inspiring leadership of MS Dhoni, CSK managed to lift the trophy by defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final at the Wankhede last season.
Both these giant units from South India incidentally have the two tallest figures leading the lines among the current crop. Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni head to head in the opening clash is probably the best start one could’ve anticipated for. BCCI thus far have announced the schedule for the first two weeks and will release the schedule of other games once the Indian Parliament elections dates are finalized.
17 games will be played from 23rd March to 5th April. On 5th April, RCB will host the Kolkata Knight Riders and the other side of the schedule will be framed depending on the election dates, which will be released very soon by the Indian Election Commission.
Meanwhile, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s official Twitter handle tried hyping the contest which needs no special marketing. In their tweet, they mentioned this contest as the “Spicy South Indian Derby” but they prefer “Sweet Sambhar”, which was a metaphorical dig at one of their arch-rivals.
CSK hits back with a stellar response
The three-time IPL champions were not going to back off and they too had a cracking response to their opponents for the 2019 opener. CSK hold the upper hand as far as the statistics are concerned as they have won 14 of their 22 meetings till date. MS Dhoni‘s side defeated them home and away in the 2018 edition and will be eager to replicate the same.
In what was a brutal response to RCB claiming they like “Sweet Sambar”, CSK’s official Twitter handled responded saying “But Sambar is always yellove (yellow) in colour no?”
