IPL 2019: RCB bids Mandeep Singh goodbye in Bollywood style
Mandeep will play for KXIP next season.
With the trading window open, the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises are taking some tough decisions to leave some of their players ahead of the next season. While Akila Dananjaya and Mustafizur Rahman have been released by the Mumbai Indians, the Royal Challengers Bangalore let go off Mandeep Singh to Kings XI Punjab. Despite releasing the cricketer, the franchise’s official Twitter handle has bid an emotional goodbye to Mandeep with a Bollywood film dialogue.
Mandeep was bought by RCB in the auction last season for a whopping amount of Rs 1.4 Crore but the cricketer couldn’t live up the expectations on the field. He could only muster 252 runs in 14 outings at a mediocre average of 25. His strike-rate of 135.48, however, was impressive.
Interestingly, Kings XI had started bidding for him during the auction earlier this year and tried their best to get his services. They lost the bidding war to the RCB who were adamant in getting the Punjab player in the team. However, after a poor season, they have traded him with his local franchise itself.
Batting at different positions from 4 to 6 Mandeep always tried to give his best to the team. But barring a couple of scintillating performances here and there, he never managed to nail down his place and would be hoping to make amends with the Punjab side now.
Tussi naa jao
Meanwhile, RCB’s official Twitter handle tried to give a filmy sendoff to Mandeep Singh with a famous dialogue of the film ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. “@mandeeps12 tussi jaa rahe ho… tussi na jao #PlayBold forever,” their tweet read.
Mandeep Singh now will look to perform from the word go for Kings XI in the upcoming season. It also remains to be seen if he bats in the top-order for them as his attacking instinct can surprise many oppositions during the tournament.
