IPL 2019: RCB can still make it to the playoffs, feels Yuzvendra Chahal
"We have to forget about the games we lost."
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 is currently in the mesial period. The 12th edition of the league kicked off on 23rd March and is about to finish its third successive week. Just like the previous seasons, IPL has witnessed some thrilling actions this time around as well. Teams like the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have displayed sheer dominance in the tournament thus far.
At the same time, the current season of the IPL has also turned out to be horrific for some teams. One such franchise is the Royal Challengers Bangalore, who is currently the last ranked side of the tourney. The Virat Kohli-led franchise has played a total of 6 matches till now and has been defeated in all 6 of them. The team is still in search of its first victory and making it to the playoffs now seems a road too far for them.
Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal, who is an integral part of the RCB setup, opened up about his team’s poor performance. The lad’s IPL team has lost six games on a trot and is yet to open its account. Whilst talking about his franchise’s woes in the pre-match press conference, Chahal said, “We have to forget about the games we lost because we cannot change the results. We have to put losses behind and focus on eight matches coming up,”
Nonetheless, the 28-year old still feels that his team can make it to the playoffs. Yuzi, in the recently-concluded press conference, said that the current scenario of Bangalore’s chances of making it to the playoffs is relatable with what it was back in 2016, wherein, RCB were able to make it to the final despite beginning the tournament on a poor note.
We have not clicked as a team
Despite the fact that the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are having an awful season, the wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has turned out to be one of the top-performers for them. Howbeit, the Haryana-born hasn’t got any support from other players and thus, the team has miserably failed to display a fine team-effort. Whilst opining over this matter, Chahal said, “I am not going to blame batting or bowling.
I think as a team we have not clicked, we are not playing as a team. Sometimes our batting is not working and sometimes bowling. We need to understand that it is not an individual game, you can’t depend upon a couple of players. All the eleven players need to step up.”
“We need to improve in our death bowling as well. It is a big issue for us. We are bowling well till the 16th over. We need to finish well,” the 28-year-old further added.
