IPL 2019: Robin Uthappa fields wearing face mask after dust storm in Jaipur
Many were surprised to see him wearing the mask.
The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are hosting the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in Jaipur at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at the moment. The match 21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is expected to be a mouth-watering contest with Andre Russell playing. The visitors won the toss and opted to field first with an aim to restrict the opposition to a below-par total.
While that was not an issue for anyone, Robin Uthappa wearing a face mask on the field surprised many. Many were left wondering about it with no other KKR player doing it. The actual reason for the cricketer wearing the mask was due to the sand storm that hit Jaipur just before the game. When the players were getting ready for the encounter, the wind suddenly picked up and then it was realised that it was a sand storm.
The players had to find cover quickly as their kit and stuff was moved from its place by the wind itself. The ground staff, however, were at work even during this period and they covered the pitch to avoid any further problems.
Game starts on time
However, despite the storm, the game started on time. The wind is strong in Jaipur at the moment as the Royals are batting at the moment. The camera was on Robin Uthappa in the first over itself when he was wearing the face mask to protect himself which is a wise move.
As far as the match is concerned, the home team made two changes to the team. Prashant Chopra and Sudhesan Mithun came into the team at the expense of Stuart Binny and Varun Aaron. The KKR also left out Lockie Ferguson after the Kiwi failed to make an impact in the first four matches. Harry Gurney made his IPL debut and he would be eager to leave his mark from the word go.
