IPL 2019: RR’s Jos Buttler calls MS Dhoni’s showdown with umpires over no-ball reversal “inappropriate”

Chennai Super Kings defeated Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur with a brilliant six off Ben Stokes by Mitchell Santner on the last ball of the 20^th over of the match. Jos Buttler says Dhoni’s outburst against umpires was not right

MS Dhoni’s antics against the umpires cost him 50% of his match fees. RR’s opening batsman Jos Buttler attended the post-match press conference on behalf of Rajasthan Royals and spoke on the issue. “I was fielding at the boundary so I am not sure what had actually happened. I am not sure if that was the right thing to do,” Buttler was quoted as saying by Times of India.

“Obviously, tensions are running high in the IPL and every run counts and it was probably a big moment in the game, but whether stepping onto the pitch is quite right — I’d say, probably not,” Buttler further said.

The loss was RR’s fifth in the ongoing tournament and sees them placed at the no.6 spot on the points table and a playoffs qualification looks far now. “It (the loss) is a tough one to take, getting in a position to win the game but not being able to get over the line. The boys will be very disappointed but that has been the story of our season so far,” Buttler said.
