IPL 2019: Shikhar Dhawan hilariously mocks Ravi Ashwin after the latter's mankad attempt
He scored 56 runs to play an important role in the team's victory.
The Delhi Capitals (DC) managed to register their sixth win of the season on Saturday as they defeated the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by five wickets. Shikhar Dhawan and Shreyas Iyer slammed half-centuries in the chase to make sure that there was no collapse this time around. Apart from the action in the middle, there were some funny moments and it goes without saying that Dhawan was part of it as well.
Ever since the mankading incident, the batsmen have become more aware and the possibility of the same happening surfaced again in the game between DC and KXIP. Dhawan was warned twice, once by Murugan Ashwin and Ravi Ashwin during the chase and the second time, the batsman was inside the crease and went on hilariously react later.
Ashwin stopped in his action midway as Shikhar Dhawan was looking to take a start in the 13th over of the innings. But he was inside the crease when the bowler stopped and rather knelt down at the non-striker’s end to gee up the crowd as well even as Ravi Ashwin got ready to deliver the ball again.
Dhawan mocks as if he is running
Shikhar Dhawan didn’t stop here. As Ashwin got into his delivery stride, he mocked as he is going out of the crease before the ball is bowled. The crowd enjoyed the moment even as the commentator laughed about the same. But the bowler didn’t pay heed to the same and bowled a decent delivery of which only a single was taken.
Here’s the video:
Even Dhawan didn’t let the incident get to him and went on to play a crucial knock of 56 runs. He was scalped by Hardus Viljoen in the end but by then the left-hander had ensured that his team was on the path of winning the match.
