The 27-year-old made his debut against India earlier this year and made an immediate impact with a Man of the Match performance in his second appearance. The wicket-keeper batsman played the spinners beautifully in the ODIs against India and was therefore picked as a replacement for Steve Smith by the Rajasthan Royals as the then Australian captain was banned following the ball-tampering controversy in the Newlands Test.

Klaasen, however, wasn’t impressive in the 2018 IPL with just 57 runs in 4 matches. But his last season’s numbers doesn’t do justice to his talent. With over 1100 runs to his name in 55 matches in 20-over cricket, Klaasen is big hitter and can be an excellent replacement of Brendon McCullum at RCB.

Klaasen’s ability to play the spinners may prove to be an advantage. Also he might be picked by RCB as there is strong possibility that the tournament is likely to take place in South Africa, owing to general elections in India and can dominate the bowlers hands down if that is the case.
