IPL 2019: Virat Kohli elated to join the RCB camp at the Chinnaswamy Stadium
Kohli will face MS Dhoni in the season opener on Saturday.
Last season was yet another disappointment for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as they finished sixth in the league, winning only six games and failing to make it to the IPL Playoffs. But this year, Virat Kohli’s team is all set to start afresh and make it count in the 12th edition of the tournament which starts on March 23. Kohli-led RCB will take on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore team holds the records of both- the highest and the lowest total in the history of IPL. The highest being 263/5 against the Pune Warriors India in 2013 and 49 runs, against the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017, being the lowest. The franchise owns the highest paid IPL personality none other than the Indian captain Virat Kohli. King Kohli, captain of the RCB, is getting Rs 17 crore- highest IPL salary contract for any player- since the last edition of the IPL.
The dedication of the Delhi-born cricketer towards the RCB franchise is known to all. “To me, it [playing for RCB] has been a most special experience. I don’t see myself leaving or playing for any other franchise,” Kohli said while speaking to reporters during the launch of the franchise’s new app in Bengaluru.
Even though the RCB has zero titles in the IPL, Virat Kohli is all positive this year. The team also has stars like AB de Villiers and key all-rounders like Marcus Stoinis.
Virat Kohli is all set for the opener
Captain Virat Kohli took to Twitter to announce that he’s extremely excited to be back in action at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. He might be playing lesser matches because of the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup, that starts on May 30, in order to manage the workload, but his dedication towards his team is at an all-time prime.
We’re all aware of how fans all over India are emotional about Virat Kohli. Earlier this year, during the T20I series against the visiting Australian team, Kohli had received a warm and exciting reception by the crowd at the Chinnaswamy stadium. Kohli also reciprocated with a quick 72 off 38 balls. As the King has set foot on the field again, he’s all pumped up for the start of the 12th edition of the IPL.
