Here are the best memes from the game.
Delhi Capitals (DC) were up against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 2nd Qualifier of the ongoing 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The exploits of Shikhar Dhawan along with Marcus Stoinis and Kagiso Rabada in a do-or-die fixture saw Delhi cementing a spot for themselves in the final against Mumbai Indians by 17 runs.
The toss went in the favour of Shreyas Iyer and he elected to bat first. After a heartbreaking collapse of the batting line-up against Mumbai Indians (MI), Capitals decided to go with a new opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stoinis. This proved to be a masterstroke for Delhi as the two batsmen collected an 86-run stand in 8 overs. The spin wizard Rashid Khan gave the first breakthrough to Hyderabad by sending Stoinis back to the pavilion.
This was followed by a Shikhar Dhawan show as the opening batsman smashed a scintillating 78 runs off 50 deliveries including 6 boundaries and 2 maximums at a strike rate of 156. He found an ally in Shimron Hetmyer who regained his form and scored 42 off 22. However, SRH made a comeback in the game in the last 2 overs.
The Orange Army managed to restrict DC to 189 for three in 20 overs. Sandeep Sharma and T Natarajan bowled perfect yorkers in 19th and 20th over respectively and didn’t give a single boundary while bowling to two power-hitters Hetmyer and Rishab Pant.
Kagiso Rabada and Marcus Stoinis shatters Hyderabad’s batting line-up
In response, SRH had a mountain to climb but failed to get the desired start as after going wicketless for the past four games, Kagiso Rabada finally returned back to his ruthless self and took the priced wicket of David Warner in the very first ball of the second over. After that Priyam Garg, Manish Pandey and Jason Holder got good starts but could not convert it into something substantial.
Kane Williamson and youngster Abdul Samad tried to bring the Orange Army back into the game by collecting a 57-run stand in five overs. But while playing at 67 runs off 45 balls, Williamson lost his wicket to Stoinis shifted the game entirely towards his side.
The Jammu and Kashmir rookie Samad looked promising as he smashed 33 runs off 16 in a pressure situation but a brilliant 19th over by Rabada dashed all the hopes of Hyderabad of going to the finals.
Rabada and Stoinis were the pick of the bowlers for Delhi Capitals as the former took four wickets while the latter had three wickets to his name. Apart from the duo, only Axar Patel managed to take the scalp of Jason Holder.
