IPL 2020: 3 Mistakes committed by the losing side in SRH vs RCB
RCB's mistakes led them to being knocked out of the tournament.
Another season brought another heartbreak for Royal Challengers Bangalore as they lost to SRH in a thrilling encounter. It started with a dismal show from RCB’s top order but AB de Villiers played a responsible knock to steady their ship. Their innings ended at 131 at the end of 20 overs with SRH coming back strongly at the death. RCB started their bowling quite well and never allowed SRH to run away with the game but Kane Williamson had other plans.
The experienced batsman took control of the game and played stitched a miraculous partnership with Jason Holder to take his team home. This was the first time RCB reached the playoffs in the last four season. They looked a promising side in the beginning but what followed the great start, was another year of waiting for the much-awaited IPL trophy.
Here are the three mistakes committed by RCB against SRH in Eliminator:
1. RCB tried too much
RCB qualified for the playoffs on the back of their tremendous first half of the tournament. They lost the last four of their league games and didn’t have momentum on their side. Considering this, they tried to make way too many changes to compete in this pressure game. They made four changes in their playing eleven and so many tactical changes in their game plan. These things made them unsettled and there was lack of clarity in their planning.
2. Senior batsmen threw their wickets
SRH bowled extremely well in this high voltage game with the limited-resources that they possess. But it was RCB batsmen who threw their wicket while playing rash shots or irresponsible cricket. Apart from Natarajan’s peach yorker to AB de Villiers, none of the batsmen was dismissed on unplayable deliveries. If their senior batsmen like Aaron Finch, Virat Kohli and Moeen Ali would have played more responsibly in this must-win game, they could have finished on the winning side.
3. Not using Moeen Ali well
Moeen Ali was roped in as an all-rounder who can hit big shots in the middle and bowl disciplined line and length as well. However, even when the spinners were getting some purchase from the wicket, Ali wasn’t utilized much. He was given just an over in which he gave away just four runs and he could have been a vital bowler. The main reason for him being avoided was no left-handers were there in the middle but Ali’s experience could have come out crucial for RCB.
