Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has strained after the departure of Gautam Gambhir from their setup. The last season turned out to be a bit of a nightmare, especially in the middle part of the round robin stage where they lost six matches in a row. Albeit the Men in Gold and Purple strung together a few wins later on, it was all too late by then.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad edged them out on net run rate. In order to turn fortunes around, KKR has let go 11 players, one of which was Chris Lynn. Going into the auction, set to take place in Kolkata, the Knights have plenty of work to do.

Meanwhile, among the retained players, there are a few, who have either failed or haven’t been a part of the playing eleven on a regular basis. It’s hard to comprehend on what grounds were they persisted with.

Kamlesh Nagarkoti

Kamlesh Nagarkoti burst on to the scene in the 2018 U19 World Cup in New Zealand. There he cranked up the pace over the 140 kmph mark to ruffle a few feathers. Soon after, KKR bagged them in the auction, shelling out a whopping 3.20 crores for the Rajasthan speedster.

Fate had something gruesome in store for the Young Turk as he was ruled out of IPL 2018 owing to a foot injury. Karnataka pacer Prasidh Krishna replaced him in the squad. Nagarkoti ended up missing the 2019 edition as well.

Parking aside his IPL career, he hasn’t played a single competitive game ever since February 2018. The 19-year-old was set to make a comeback in the Emerging Asia Cup in Bangladesh, but his return got delayed. It’s not known when he will make a comeback on the field.
