IPL 2020: 5 overseas players Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) should target
The Bangalore franchise released 11 players from its squad and will look to rebuild as much as they can.
Royal Challengers Bangalore – Entertainers, Under-achievers, a side filled with some of the most attractive names in world cricket, a fan base which lights up the stadium with its presence, the franchise has had everything in the last decade or so, but after all their efforts, they still couldn’t lay hands on the trophy.
Under the stewardship of Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers managed to increase their fan engagement and have also become one of the most famous brands among sporting clubs. Yet, silverware is something hampering them quite badly and in the next few seasons, we will see a lot of new personnel coming in to bring home that trophy. For now, the auction size is limited, but there are some quality players up for grabs.
Here are five overseas players who could end up playing for Bangalore this season:
1. Pat Cummins
A lot of experts have already rated Pat Cummins as the most awaited player in the IPL Auction this time. The Australian speedster has scaled new heights in all formats of the game and had a fantastic outing in the 2019 World Cup. With the white, red and pink ball, he has been staggering and also touched the highest rating points achieved by an Australian bowler.
Cummins mixes his lengths brilliantly and is beginning to hit the 145 kph mark with authority pretty much every delivery. A lot of cricketers get into a frame of mind where they know exactly what to do and what not to do and as it stands, Cummins seems like one of those cricketers.
The only problem for Royal Challengers is money and as it stands, the Kings XI Punjab have better monetary resources to win his services. His asking price could exceed well over INR 8 Crore and in that scenario, Bangalore will not be left with a good amount to fill in the other slots they left vacant.
