IPL 2020: 5 Player releases that will be regretted by IPL franchises
These players deserved to be retained by their respective franchises.
4. Chris Morris
Chris Morris is one of the most sought after limited-overs cricketers. He is fast and accurate at the back end of the innings and is a big tonker of the ball. After faring decently for Chennai and Rajasthan, Delhi bought Morris for a million dollars. He had a brilliant run for the capital city- in 2016 and 2017 Morris picked 13 and 12 wickets respectively and gave his side timely finishes with the bat.
The all-rounder was retained by Delhi Capitals (then Daredevils) ahead of the IPL 2018 at the price of 11 crores. But injury ruled him out for most of the season. He was disappointing with the bat this year, scoring merely 32 runs but his bowling competence hasn’t diminished as he returned with 13 wickets in 9 matches.
It appears that the Delhi franchise believes 11 crores may be just too much for the South African. The Capitals will look to buy him back at a lower price, and might even regret if they are not able to. His international career is at a halt, but his worth in franchise cricket is still rock solid.
