IPL 2020: 5 Player releases that will be regretted by IPL franchises
These players deserved to be retained by their respective franchises.
3. Chris Lynn
The newly appointed head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, Brendon McCullum didn’t show any generosity to the other half of the Bash Brothers-Chris Lynn, by releasing him from the squad. Known for his commanding batting and muscular strikes, Lynn has made a name for himself as one of the most devastating openers in the shortest format. But in the last couple of years, he has been plagued by a shoulder injury.
With a dislocated shoulder, Lynn cannot commit 100 percent in the field and has to restrict the array of his shots which makes him a liability for any captain. The injury factor put with a heavy price of 9.6 crores seems a fair enough reason to release him. But teams will still be lining up to buy him. When on song, even a half-fit Chris Lynn can take apart any bowling attack in the world.
The right-hander had a successful run with KKR. Lynn played 40 games for KKR in which he scored over 1200 runs with a strike rate of 140. He has scored in excess of 400 runs for the last couple of seasons albeit with a decrease in strike rate. Since the return of David Warner, Lynn was ousted from the national team, but his stocks in the league cricket are still high.
