IPL 2020: 5 uncapped players who should get more chances in the tournament
They might be unknown commodities, but have the ability to be game-changers on their day.
2. Yashasvi Jaiswal
The prodigious batsman from Mumbai made headlines last year when he became the youngest player to score a double hundred in a List-A game. He was a part of the U19 World Cup squad who were the runners up in the 2020 edition. He was the leading run scorer in the tournament and also scored a hundred against arch-rivals Pakistan in the semi-final.
Jaiswal was snapped up by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the 13th edition of the tourney. In the absence of Ajinkya Rahane, who was traded off to Delhi Capitals, he may find himself opening the innings ahead of Sanju Samson, who is expected to reprise his role as a No.3 batsman this year as well. He will get to bat alongside Jos Buttler who is in the form of his life and who may become a great mentor for the young left-handed batsman.
Jaiswal took everybody by storm by notching up a List A double hundred against an experienced bowling line-up consisting of Shahbaz Nadeem and his Royals’ teammate Varun Aaron. In 13 List-A matches, he scored 779 runs at a more-than-impressive average of 70.81 and a strike rate of 91.53. He has three fifties and as many hundreds to his name including his knock of 203 runs.
