IPL 2020: 5 uncapped players who should get more chances in the tournament
They might be unknown commodities, but have the ability to be game-changers on their day.
4. Shivam Mavi
The 21-year-old pacer from Noida is again a product of India’s comprehensive U19 programme. He was an important member of the Indian team which lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup 2018. The most interesting aspect of his bowling was the regularity with which he bowled at the speeds in excess of 140 km/hour.
He has been a part of Kolkata Knight Riders’ set up for a couple of years now but has not been able to play much because of constant injuries. Still, him being a bit less injury-prone than his U19 and KKR counterpart Kamlesh Nagarkoti, may spell into more playing chances for him this season. Knight Riders don’t have an international-level Indian pacer which can pave the way for the bowling all-rounder.
In nine IPL games, Mavi has scalped only five wickets till now at an economy of more than nine. However, in List A, his skills translate themselves into numbers. He has 22 wickets in 16 games and an average of 27.81 and an economy of 5.58 with a solitary five-wicket haul.
