IPL 2020: Amit Mishra ruled out of entire season after hurting his finger against KKR
A vital cog in DC's machinery, Mishra has 160 wickets to his name in 150 IPL matches.
Delhi Capitals’ Amit Mishra, one of the most experienced campaigners in the IPL, has been ruled out of this year’s IPL owing to a tendon injury he suffered on Saturday night. In the game against Kolkata Knight Riders at Sharjah, Mishra had hurt his bowling finger while attempting to grab a return catch from Nitish Rana’s bat.
The veteran had put up an impressive bowling show against KKR and had also plucked the wicket of Shubman Gill. Sharjah’s wicket is favourable for batsmen but Mishra was looking in a great rhythm and was bowling really well.
However, he wasn’t able to finish his four overs due to the injury. Mishra’s injured finger kept bothering him and the physio also had to walk in with the magic spray during the match. He hurt his finger in the first over but managed to deliver another over too, where he plucked the prized wicket of Gill.
We will need to look at a replacement: Delhi Capitals
The Capitals did manage to win the game against KKR and add two crucial points under their belt. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer, in the post-match presentation, had also highlighted Mishra’s absence during the innings.
“Unfortunate to lose Mishra in the middle when he was spinning the ball really well. We were confident we had two good overs left, but anything could happen, it is a funny game is T20s and especially here in Sharjah,” Iyer had said.
In the latest development of news, a DC official revealed that Mishra’s reports stated that he has suffered a tendon injury, ruling him out of this year’s T20 extravaganza. A vital cog in DC’s machinery, Mishra has 160 wickets to his name in 150 IPL matches.
“The reports have come in and it is bad news. He will be unavailable for the rest of the season and we will need to look at a replacement. But the worst part is that he was looking in a great rhythm and was bowling really well. His experience was something that was not just helping him in the middle on these UAE wickets, but also the young spinners in the team,” the official said.
