Since the inception of Indian Premier League, the crafty leg-spinner has performed whenever it mattered the most. Weaving the magic with the ball, the old warhorse has been well and truly impressive and in fact, he has come out on top going one on one against top batsmen in the world.

He announced his arrival in the IPL when he played for the Kings XI Punjab team from 2008 to 2013. He made an instant impact as a young spinner and has had a good spell at Punjab. He had taken 57 wickets in 55 matches and interestingly, only 5 players had a better record at the time.

On 12 February 2014, Chawla was roped in by Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 425 lakhs in IPL 7 auction and has contributed quite well for the team. He has also etched his achievement in the record books when he hit the winning runs against his previous franchise in the 2014 IPL final.

His ability to control with the ball and smart use of the conditions add a new dimension to the team’s attack. He has been expectedly retained at the tag of Rs. 4.32 crore for the 2019 IPL. Chawla would look to scale the 150-wicket mark and prove his tested worth yet again this season.

Playing 157 matches, he has taken 150 wickets. He was retained at a price tag of Rs. 4.32 crore for the 2019 IPL and was released ahead of the 2020 IPL auction. Piyush Chawla is someone who would at the cynosure of Mumbai Indians’ eyes considering his wide range of experience. Chawla has set his base price at INR 1 crore.
