The 15th match of the Indian Premier League saw action between Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore. The match saw a terrific comeback from skipper Virat Kohli as he played an unbeaten knock of 72 off 53 balls.

Batting first, Royals posted 154/6 on board, and Bangalore chased the target like an easy catch and won the contest by eight wickets with five balls to spare. Batting first, the opening order of Rajasthan Royals didn’t do any good to the team.

Mahipal Lomror’s 47 off 39 was the only good thing from in Rajasthan’s backyard. Star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal again stunned the batsmen by conceding just 24 runs in his span of four overs and also picked three wickets. He was ultimately named the player of the match for his heroics with the ball. Washington Sundar remained equally impressive on the bowling front from RCB.

Hunting down the target, young Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Virat Kohli broke the back of Royals’ bowlers and won the game easily. Padikkal played a brilliant knock of 63 off 45, whereas Kohli stole the limelight by scoring a significant 72*.

20-year-old Padikkal has been quite consistent in his show from day one and is leaving no stone unturned in lending his contribution to the team. In the same light, he came up with a tweet that threw light on his journey. It stated- “Passion. Purpose. Progress.”

Devdutt Padikkal could bag Emerging player of the Tournament honour

The tweet showed an old picture of Padikkal, where he posed with Kohli and had a medal on his neck. The other picture in the frame showed his recent picture where he shared a pitch with Kohli doing the job for RCB.

If Padikkal continues his thunderous journey like this, he can definitely bag the emerging player of the tournament honour. After winning this thrilling contest, RCB has jumped to the top of the table after winning their three matches in four outings.

Skipper Virat Kohli also stated earlier that they are in their most balanced state and are looking forward to a great season. They have a fresh feel in their squad and can make a mark in this season of IPL. Let’s see how they replicate their words in the coming times.
