Kolkata Knight Riders extended the gap between them and the bottom half of the IPL 2020 table as they reached 10 points with a super over victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. There were no big efforts for the KKR team with the bat despite which they crawled to 163/5. The run chase in SRH vs KKR was well decided during one big spell of Lockie Ferguson whose figures read 3/8 after three overs. Ferguson gave away only seven runs in his last over and later end up knocking down the stumps of Warner and Samad in the super over.

Interestingly, this was the first game of the season for the New Zealand pacer who began it by dismissing his national team skipper Kane Williamson with the first ball he bowled. Ferguson earned an impact of 15.87 for his bowling performance which is the highest during the SRH vs KKR as per CricTracker’s Match Impact Ratings. Ferguson did get support from Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Pat Cummins who came up with a couple of tight overs to keep the required rate increasing.

KKR’s former captain Dinesh Karthik and the current captain Eoin Morgan played important roles in helping their team go past 160. Morgan scored 34 from 23 balls to earn an impact rating of 8.92 while Karthik smashed an unbeaten 14-ball 29 with four boundaries earning him the highest batting impact in SRH vs KKR of 13.41. Shubman Gill scored only 36 off 37 balls getting him a negative impact of -7.75 while Andre Russell another batting failure (9 runs off 11 balls) also got a negative impact of -6.33.

Russell went on to produce worst impact with the ball as he conceded 30 runs in his two games earning him a negative impact of -11.05 extending his match impact to -17.38 during SRH vs KKR. For the Sunrisers Hyderabad, their skipper David Warner (10.23) earned the highest impact thanks to his unbeaten 48 while batting at No.4. Injured Kane Williamson (5.36) produced a short cameo in the powerplay scoring 29 from only 19 balls. Abdul Samad (7.37) had the highest strike rate among the SRH players for his 15-ball 23 with three boundaries.
