After three consecutive losses in the tournament, it took a special effort from Manish Pandey for the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to bounce back. With a splendid win against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), they have kept their chances alive in the tournament. In their next match, SRH will be playing the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).
Both these teams have got four wins in 10 games and they will both push hard for a win. With the competition for a spot in the playoffs already so intense, the Sunrisers wouldn’t want to leave it for too late. With the all-rounders doing well, the team has got a great balance at the moment and they might not want to make any amends to their team.
Here is the Predicted Playing XI for the Sunrisers Hyderabad for KXIP vs SRH:
Openers (Jonny Bairstow (wk), David Warner (c))
It took two brilliant deliveries from Jofra Archer in the last game to get rid of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow. While the skipper has had his problems against Archer in recent times, Bairstow had no answer to an incoming delivery from the speedster. However, this being a critical game, these two will look to turn things around.
It was against KXIP these two put up a 160-run partnership earlier in this tournament. David Warner has got nine consecutive centuries against this opposition and will love to keep the streak going. In the last game, Jonny scored 97 runs which helped him receive the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Middle Order (Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg)
Manish Pandey has shown us the glimpses of his talent in this tournament but was never as authoritative with the bat as he was in the last game. While he was expected to take the backstep after losing both the openers early, he instead chose to attack and didn’t let the RR bowlers sniff a chance. He was striking the ball beautifully and SRH would want him to continue playing that way. Priyam Garg will be the other batsman in the middle-order for SRH. He is a gun fielder and has impressed in whatever opportunities he’s got with the bat.
All Rounders (Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder)
Vijay Shankar has been bowling probably his best-ever in the IPL. He seems to have gained the trust of the captain with his economical overs and timely wickets. Moreover, in the last game, he chipped in with the bat as well with a timely half-century.
Jason Holder has also been a wonderful addition to the side and has added great balance. Kane Williamson’s injury came up as a boon for the team as Holder’s inclusion gives SRH six bowling options. He picked up three wickets in the last game apart from pulling off a sharp run-out. Abdul Samad and he will be taking up the finishers’ role for the side.
Bowlers (Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Shahbaz Nadeem)
T Natarajan has been nailing the yorkers in this tournament. But he has missed his mark more often than not resulting in him being very expensive. The left-arm pacers gave away 46 runs in his four overs in the last match. That is one area where he has to improve by adding more variations to his bowling. Sandeep Sharma will be the other pacer in the line-up. He can swing the ball both ways and it’d be great for a team if he can pick up a couple of early wickets.
Rashid Khan and Shahbaz Nadeem will be the two spinners in the line-up. With Holder coming in, SRH has got the flexibility to either go for Nadeem or someone like Abhishek Sharma. Nadeem bowled just one over in the last game and there is a possibility that Abhishek might take his place since there are quite a few left-handers in the KXIP batting line-up. Rashid picked up three wickets in the last game against KXIP and will look to replicate the same kind of performance.
