Delhi Capitals (DC) would be a relieved unit as they have managed to go through to the playoffs in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In fact, they will now be facing the Mumbai Indians (MI) on November 5 in the Qualifier 1 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
On Monday, Shreyas Iyer and Co defeated the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium. After being put in to bat, RCB could manage only 152 for the loss of seven wickets. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with an impressive half-century and guided the Challengers.
In the run-chase, the Capitals didn’t find themselves behind the 8-ball. Meanwhile, despite the loss, RCB made the playoffs but will play the Eliminator. The fourth spot will be grabbed by either Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) or Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Here are the DC Player Ratings for the DC vs RCB match:
Prithvi Shaw- 1.5/10
Prithvi Shaw’s poor run of form doesn’t seem to come to an end. The right-hander managed only nine runs off six balls with the help of two fours. But then Mohammed Siraj castled him to cut short his stay.
Shikhar Dhawan- 9/10
Shikhar Dhawan arrested his slump and scored a magnificent half-century. He scored 54 runs off 41 balls with the help of six glorious fours. Left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed accounted for his crucial wicket.
Ajinkya Rahane- 9/10
Ajinkya Rahane looked in decent form, batting at number three. He managed 60 runs off 46 balls and his knock was laced with five fours and one six. The batsman got out to spinner Washington Sundar in the 18th over.
Shreyas Iyer- 3/10
Shreyas Iyer came to bat when the Capitals were in a strong position. To his sheer dismay, he got out after scoring seven runs off nine balls. He fell prey to Ahmed while trying to clear the straight boundary.
Rishabh Pant- 5/10
Rishabh Pant came to the middle when DC were almost over the finishing line with 23 runs needed in the last 22 balls. The left-handed batter scored one four and remained unbeaten on eight off seven balls.
Marcus Stoinis- 6/10
Marcus Stoinis came to bat at number six when the Capitals were almost through to victory. He smacked one six and ended on 10 runs off six balls. Stoinis didn’t get a chance to show his prowess with the ball.
Axar Patel- 6.5/10
Axar Patel made a return to DC’s playing eleven, replacing Harshal Patel. In four overs, he couldn’t get a wicket but bowled at a decent economy rate of 7.50. He bowled four dots and was hit for one six.
Daniel Sams- 2/10
Daniel Sams replaced Shimron Hetmyer in the playing eleven and was a tad disappointing. The left-arm pacer was the most expensive bowler for the Capitals. In four overs, the pacer leaked as many as 40 runs.
Ravi Ashwin- 9/10
Ravi Ashwin was miserly and gave only 18 runs in his spell of four overs to go with 10 dot balls. He conceded only a solitary four and nipped out the prized scalp of RCB skipper Virat Kohli in the 13th over.
Kagiso Rabada- 8.5/10
Kagiso Rabada got back amongst the wickets after going wicketless in the last two games. The speedster dismissed Josh Philippe and Shivam Dube. In his four overs, he gave 30 runs and was hit for three fours.
Anrich Nortje- 9/10
Anrich Nortje was the standout bowler for the Capitals on the day. The speedster picked up the crucial wicket of Devdutt Padikkal and then got rid of Chris Morris and Isuru Udana. He gave 33 runs in four overs.
