IPL 2020: Match 56 – MI vs SRH – Who Said What
SRH crushed MI by 10 wickets to book the playoffs berth.
The 56th and the final league match of Indian Premier League 2020 took place between Mumbai Indians and Sunrisers Hyderabad. When came the do or die contest in front of Hyderabad, they came out with flying colours. SRH crushed defending champions by 10 wickets. Batting first, Mumbai posted an average 149 on the board where no one came up with an extraordinary show. It was only Kieron Pollard at the end who accelerated Mumbai’s innings (41 off 25).
Shahbaz Nadeem was named as the player of the match for adding in some phenomenal spin attack to SRH’s unit. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan added 36 and 33 runs respectively from their ends. The bowling section of Hyderabad was determined enough to create all the troubles for the opponents. Nadeem conceded just 19 runs off his spell by picking two wickets. Sandeep Sharma named three wickets under his belt.
Chasing the ordinary target in Sharjah, SRH’s openers took the charge perfectly on their shoulders. David Warner donned the skipper’s cap too well as he smashed 85* off 58, and Wriddhiman Saha played a magnificent knock of 58* runs. MI bowlers struggled to pick even a single wicket in the match.

Not the day we want to remember, probably our worst performance of the season. We wanted to try a few things, it didn’t go our way. We knew dew was going to play a factor, but we didn’t play good cricket today. I was happy to be back, it’s been a while. I’m looking forward to play few more games here, let’s see what happens. It (hamstring) is fine, absolutely. We play at Wankhede where there’s dew in the second innings. You have to back your skills, and believe that you can get people out. They played good shots in the powerplay, and that helped them. It’s a very funny format. It’s always nice to forget was has happened, and focus on the present. They (Delhi) are a good side, so it will be a good challenge to face them. You want to leave this performance as quickly as possible. We’ll get back to the drawing board and figure things out.

It feels good now after that dreadful loss against KXIP. They rested a few players but it hold them to 150 on this ground was great. A lot of credit goes to the bowlers, Nadeem was superb. We were trying to be as clinical with the bat then, and it feels good. We try and put our best foot forward, and that stems from the franchise owners. They are great people and it is like a family. We have a never say die attitude and that is how we approach each game. We had a couple of injuries but they are here in spirit and we are doing it for them. Kane missed out due to injury last year and Jonny took his place, and was absolutely fantastic. But that happens in franchise cricket, we can play only four overseas players.

I don’t get a lot of games. I am used to not getting so many games. when you get your chance, you give your 100%. I have been working hard, on the carrom ball, for the last two years. I thought it was the right time to use it. The round-arm ball too. Sometimes it doesn’t bounce if it lands on the leather. If it lands on the seam, it turns a lot. When you are contributing to the team, it boosts you up. If you see our bowing unit, everybody is doing his job for the last few games. It is a small ground but as you pitches are turning slower so if you pitch in the right areas, it is difficult to hit.
