IPL 2020: Scans of Mitchell Marsh's injured ankle gone missing in UAE
Marsh reached Perth recently and is in the middle of his 14-day quarantine.
Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh’s UAE visit for the Indian Premier League (IPL) didn’t serve him well. He got injured in his very first game of the season and was ruled out of the whole tournament. The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) confirmed the news and also named Jason Holder as his replacement. Marsh then had to fly to back home after travelling to UAE directly from England.
An injury is a huge blow for Mitchell Marsh who had just made a comeback into Australia’s limited-overs side on England tour. He had also played a crucial role with both bat and ball in helping the team win the ODI series against the world champions. Cricket Australia (CA) will be hoping for him to regain his fitness in time for the international summer.
However, things have turned a bit weird for the all-rounder as his scan reports have gone missing in the UAE and have not been handed over to CA either. Mitchell Marsh spoke to the reporters on Tuesday after reaching Perth where he is also in quarantine. “We don’t really know what happened with the scans over in the UAE. Cricket Australia haven’t been able to get their hands on them so it’s a bit of a weird situation,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket 365.
Mitchell Marsh needs special permission to go for scans again
The 28-year-old will have to go for fresh scans again. However, for that to happen, he will have to get state clearance to leave quarantine and go for scans. “Hopefully I’ll go for another scan at some point this week, if I can get clearance, and then we’ll be a lot clearer on what we’re dealing with,” Mitchell Marsh added.
Problems are not ending for him as he was finding it tough earlier to get a flight back home after being ruled out of the IPL. Now despite reaching Perth, neither him nor Cricket Australia are aware of the extent of his ankle injury.
