IPL 2020: Sourav Ganguly uses a blurred Pakistan cricketers picture in background from Sharjah Stadium

The preparations 13th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) have reached the final stages with the tournament set to commence on September 19. Even the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has reached the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to take stock of the situation. All the teams had reached in the country well in advance to complete their quarantine and start training in order to get accustomed to the conditions.

The cash-rich league will be played behind the close doors for the first time this year due to the Coronavirus pandemic. With only four fays to go for the tournament to get underway, Ganguly met the officials at Sharjah Stadium. He was seen discussing a few things and also visited the stadium.

Apart from Sourav Ganguly, the IPL Chairman Brijesh Patel and Rajeev Shukla also made a visit and they were welcomed by the Vice Chairman of Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Waleed Bukhatir. Ganguly himself posted the pictures of his visit to the stadium which also included a group photo with everyone. However, he blurred a big picture on the screen on the stadium while posting which caught the attention.

Whose picture did Sourav Ganguly blur?

The picture which he blurred was of Pakistan’s Javed Miandad and Rashid Latif. The whole team could be seen standing with even the likes of Misbah-ul-Haq, Azhar Mahmood and Taufeeq Umar also standing besides them. It was possibly the picture from one of the post-match presentations in Sharjah and interestingly, the reason for blurring is not known. Apparently, the same pictures were posted on Sharjah Cricket Stadium’s official Instagram handle.

Meanwhile, the IPL seems set to commence after facing so many hurdles since March when the tournament was originally set to be played. Nevertheless, the postponement of the T20 World Cup opened up a window for the cash-rich league to go ahead and the final will be played on November 10 this year. With not much turn around time before the next season, it will be interesting to see if the BCCI organises the auction ahead of the 2021 edition.
