IPL 2020: Virat Kohli goes for a second despite RCB needing only 1 run to win against KKR
The extra run wasn't counted to the team and Kohli's tally.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had one of their best days of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season on Wednesday. They thumped Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by eight wickets with 39 balls to spare. Their bowlers, especially Mohammed Siraj, were on fire on the day as they never let the opposition batsmen off the hook and restricted them to just 84 in 20 overs.
Virat Kohli was praised for his excellent captaincy in the game and the man has also become the talking point for his love for the game and batting. He came out to bat after RCB’s second wicket fell and made sure there were no more hiccups in the small chase. After playing some exquisite strokes, the team needed 1 run off 40 deliveries with Prasidh Krishna bowling.
The RCB skipper dabbed a short of a length delivery past the keeper to get the winning run. Despite winning off the first run, Virat Kohli made a conscious effort to take the second run as well and made his partner Gurkeerat Singh run for it. RCB won after the first run was completed which meant that the extra run wasn’t counted. But the fans were impressed to see Kohli’s dedication towards the sport as he tried sneaking an extra run for his team even after winning.

RCB’s special effort with the ball
As far as the match is concerned, it was all about RCB’s bowlers on the day thanks to their special effort. It started with Siraj nipping out three wickets in his two overs and then the likes of Chris Morris, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal and Washington Sundar backed him up well.
There was no respite for KKR batsmen at any stage and some exceptional fielding also cut down a lot of runs for the opposition. At one stage, KKR were struggling at 57/7 with Eoin Morgan scoring 30 runs out of it and it seemed, they will get bowled out soon. But it was the efforts of Lockie Ferguson and Kuldeep Yadav that they played whole 20 overs and reached 84 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.
