Ajinkya Rahane playing for Delhi Capitals
Rahane is currently busy plying his trade in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the tournament, he’s playing for the Delhi Capitals (DC), captained by the young Rishabh Pant. In the first game against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he didn’t get a chance to bat. In the second game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR), he got out cheaply after scoring only eight runs.
Rahane was thereafter dropped when the Capitals locked horns with Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday, April 18 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Capitals went on to win the game at the iconic venue. It was Steve Smith, who replaced him in the middle-order for the game. Rahane has been with the Capitals since 2020 after moving ahead from the Royals after 2019.
It remains to be seen if Rahane makes a comeback into the playing eleven. The Capitals are next scheduled to lock horns with the Mumbai Indians (MI), led by Rohit Sharma, on April 20 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
DC have played all their games in Mumbai and how they adjust to the conditions in Chennai remains to be seen. As far as Rahane is concerned, he has played 151 IPL matches thus far and has scored 3941 runs at an average and strike rate of 31.53 and 121.34 respectively.
