IPL 2021: Here is how the COVID-19 spread took place across teams

The 14^th edition of the Indian Premier League had to be finally called off owing to an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases suddenly. Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier tested for COVID-19 positive and turned out to be the first case among playing members. Though the bio bubble of IPL 2021 was deemed to be super safe, some negligent breaches resulted in many players contracting the virus.

Many have accused the GPS device to be faulty and franchise officials sat down for manual tracing after all the havoc fell on the league. The GPS watch was with every player of the bubble but it turned out to be a little misleading and the infection got spread too rapidly.

It was reported that Chakravarthy went out of the bubble to get his shoulder scans done and later came back to the team hotel. He joined Sandeep Warrier for the meal and the team left for the practice sessions. The mystery spinner complained of not being well and was isolated immediately.

Delhi and KKR net session took place at the same time

The practice session of Delhi and KKR took place at the same time and here is when the virus got contracted to DC player Amit Mishra as well. During their net sessions, Warrier had a chat with Mishra and when Mishra returned to his hotel, he complained of being unwell. He was also separated immediately and then further rounds of testing were carried.

The second round of testing revealed that other than these players, the rest of the camp was negative. Though the tournament has been called off, it is being said that small but negligent breaches resulted in a big chaos. Suddenly many players got infected and all the fingers were raised towards BCCI. As of now, BCCI is looking up towards other windows to complete this edition of IPL.

With so many cricketing events and even ICC T20 World Cup scheduled this year in India, it will be a thing to see how the Indian board will go with their plans of conducting the rest of the tournament.
