In their previous match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) outfit, the ‘Men in Red’ were clinical with the ball. Even though the Bangalore side could only score 149/8 in their allotted 20 overs, they restricted the ‘Orange Army’ to a total of 143. Next up, the RCB side will take on the Eoin Morgan-led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) outfit. So, ahead of the match, here is the predicted playing XI of the RCB side.
Openers- Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal
The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side is likely to open with skipper Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. In Bangalore’s previous match against the Hyderabad side, Kohli got off to a good start and looked comfortable during his stay in the middle. The batting icon scored 33 off 29 deliveries.
Devdutt Padikkal could not contribute much with the willow. The left-hander scored a 13-ball 11 in RCB’s previous match and was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
Middle Order- Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers
Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers will form the middle order for the RCB side in the clash against KKR. Maxwell was in scintillating form in Bangalore’s previous encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The right-hander scored 59 at an excellent strike rate of 143.90.
AB de Villiers endured a rare failure in the RCB’s previous game. His stay in the crease lasted only 5 balls, and he could muster just a solitary run.
All Rounders- Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Daniel Christian, Kyle Jamieson
The four all-rounders who are likely to take the field in RCB’s third match of the 2021 IPL edition are Shahbaz Ahmed, Washington Sundar, Daniel Christian, and Kyle Jamieson. Shahbaz Ahmed was the star performer with the ball in Bangalore’s last match. The left-arm spinner scalped 3 wickets in the 2 overs that he bowled and gave away just 7 runs.
Washington Sundar, on his part, bowled a couple of overs and gave away 14 runs. He failed to pick up a wicket. Daniel Christian had a disappointing outing in Bangalore’s previous match. He could manage to score just 1 run with the bat, and also bowled just 1 over, and gave away 7 runs.
Even though Kyle Jamieson gave away 30 runs in his 3 overs in the previous match against SRH, he managed to scalp the wicket of David Warner to provide a crucial opening for his side.
Bowlers- Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Siraj
Harshal Patel was impressive with the ball in RCB’s match against the ‘Orange Army’. The right-arm pacer gave away only 25 runs in his 4 overs and also picked up 2 wickets. Mohammed Siraj too, picked up a couple of wickets in his quota of 4 overs.
And finally, even though Yuzvendra Chahal could not scalp any wicket, he did a decent job and went for 29 runs in the 4 overs that he bowled.
