Sanju Samson became the first player to score an IPL century on captaincy debut.
Punjab Kings have registered a nail-biting victory against Rajasthan Royals in the fourth match of the 14th season of IPL 2021. PBKS posted a big total of 221/6 in the first innings after they were asked to bat first. KL Rahul top-scored for them with 91 runs coming off his bat in 50 balls. Deepak Hooda played a crucial knock of 64 runs in only 28 balls with the help of 4 fours and 6 sixes.
Chasing this total, Rajasthan Royals lost their first 2 wickets for only 25 runs. However, captain Sanju Samson smashed a brilliant hundred to bring back his team into the game. He smacked 119 runs off 63 balls but this knock was not enough for a win. RR scored 217/7 in 20 overs and lost the game by 4 runs. Arshdeep Singh took 3 wickets for the Punjab team.

Sanju Samson creates big records
1– Sanju Samson became the first player to score an IPL century on the captaincy debut. Before him, the highest individual score for a player on captaincy debut was 93 runs off 40 balls scored by Shreyas Iyer in 2018 while leading the Delhi team.
2– His score is also the joint second-highest individual score in an IPL chase. The highest score belongs to Paul Valthaty who hit unbeaten 120 runs off 63 balls against CSK in IPL 2011.
2 – The Rajasthan captain became the second player to register an IPL century in an unsuccessful chase. Yusuf Pathan is the other player in this unique record with a hundred against Mumbai Indians in IPL 2010.

Deepak Hooda’s milestones
20 – Deepak Hooda’s fifty off 20 balls is the second-fastest half-century by an uncapped player in IPL. Ishan Kishan who reached fifty in 17 balls against KKR in IPL 2018 is sitting at the top.
2 – Hooda’s half-century is also the joint second-fastest by a player against Rajasthan Royals in IPL history. David Miller with a fifty off 19 balls in 2014 holds the current record.
KL Rahul completes 2000 runs for Punjab
2000 – KL completed 2000 runs for Punjab Kings in IPL during his wonderful knock. He has aggregated 2013 runs in 43 innings and is only behind Shaun Marsh (2477) in the tally.

3 – Chetan Sakariya picked up 3 wickets for 31 runs in his 4 overs on IPL debut. He became the sixth Indian pacer to take a three-wicket haul on his IPL debut.
