MS Dhoni, the former Indian cricketer, hasn’t played a lot of cricket, especially after the 2019 World Cup semi-final against New Zealand at Old Trafford in Manchester. However, the Jharkhand-born has continued plying his trade in the Indian Premier League. The veteran made his IPL debut for the Chennai Super Kings back in 2008 and is going great guns in the cash-rich league.
Dhoni and the Super Kings are currently in the United Arab Emirates preparing for the second leg of IPL 2021, scheduled to get underway on September 19. Dhoni and his teammates are currently busy sweating it out in the training sessions. During practice, the 40-year-old was seen using the long handle to good effect as he managed to smash some colossal sixes.
Dhoni used his feet to good effect and seemed to have found the middle of the bat on pretty much every instance. But the balls ended up landing in the bushes. Subsequently, Dhoni and his mates were seen rummaging through the bushes to find the ball.

Back in 2020, the Super Kings couldn’t qualify for the playoffs for the first time in their IPL sojourn. Though they won the last three league games, they failed to enter the top four after a flurry of losses in the first half of the tournament. In the 2021 edition, the Super Kings are placed second in the points table.
They have won five out of seven matches and have a net run rate of 1.263, the best among the participating teams in the tournament. For the time being, their two defeats have come against Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians. In the game versus the Mumbai-based team, CSK failed to defend a score of 218.
Their first game in the second leg is against MI itself on Sunday, September 19 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Then they will face the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday, September 24 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
Faf du Plessis has been the standout batter for CSK, having scored 320 runs at an average of 64 and a strike rate of 145.45. Sam Curran is their leading wicket-taker with nine scalps.
