Just days from the start of the IPL 2021, another positive COVID-19 case has jolted the league. Defending champions Mumbai Indians suffered a major blow as their talent scout and wicket-keeping consultant Kiran More was tested positive for the virus. There has been a huge uprising of COVID-19 positive cases in India recently. At the center of this second wave of the virus, there is Maharashtra and its capital Mumbai, which has witnessed massive numbers of people being tested positive with the virus. This has also presented a threat for the IPL 2021, as there are some matches scheduled at the Wankhede stadium.
MI’s official statement
The official statement by the Mumbai Indians franchise on Twitter read, “Mumbai Indians’ scout and wicket keeping consultant Mr. Kiran More has tested positive for Covid-19. Mr. More is currently asymptomatic and has been isolated. Mumbai Indians and Kiran More have followed all the BCCI health guidelines.

Recently some of the players of the IPL teams were also affected due to COVID-19. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Nitish Rana came back to training on Monday after suffering from the virus. Delhi Capitals’ all-rounder Axar Patel was also found positive with COVID-19 just a few days back.
RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal was also tested positive on March 22. Needless to say, all these players were isolated and have been taking the necessary precaution to prevent the spreading of the virus. The IPL also got another scare recently when groundsmen in Mumbai along with some of the event managers were found positive with the coronavirus.
